If you are receiving an error message after changing your HP color cartridge, there are a few steps you can try to resolve the issue.

 

  • Check that the cartridge is correctly installed: Make sure the cartridge is properly seated in the slot and that the latch is securely closed. You should also check that you have removed any protective tape or stickers from the cartridge.
  • Clean the cartridge contacts: If the contacts on the cartridge are dirty or have residue on them, this can cause issues with the printer detecting the cartridge. Try cleaning the contacts with a lint-free cloth or cotton swab dipped in rubbing alcohol.
  • Restart the printer: Sometimes simply restarting the printer can resolve errors related to cartridge installation. Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait a few minutes, and then plug it back in and turn it on.
  • Update the printer firmware: HP frequently releases firmware updates for their printers, and these updates can sometimes address issues with cartridge detection. Check the HP website for any available firmware updates for your printer.
