Hi @Shellymumgi,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP printer is consistently prompting you to replace the cyan (C) and yellow (Y) cartridges, there are several steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the issue.

  1. Check Cartridge Installation: Ensure that the cyan and yellow cartridges are properly installed in their respective slots. Open the printer cover and make sure each cartridge is securely in place.

  2. Cartridge Compatibility: Confirm that you are using genuine HP cartridges that are compatible with your printer model. Using non-HP or incompatible cartridges can lead to errors.

  3. Cartridge Levels: Check the ink levels of the cyan and yellow cartridges through your printer software or on the printer's control panel. If the ink levels are low or depleted, replace the cartridges with new ones.

  4. Clean Cartridge Contacts: Sometimes, the metal contacts on the cartridges or in the printer may become dirty. Gently clean the contacts with a lint-free cloth to ensure proper communication between the cartridges and the printer.

  5. Update Firmware: Ensure that your printer has the latest firmware installed. Manufacturers often release updates to improve compatibility and address issues. Visit the official HP website to download and install the latest firmware for your printer model.

  6. Restart Printer: Turn off your printer, wait a few moments, and then turn it back on. This can help clear any temporary issues or glitches.

  7. Reinstall Cartridges: If the problem persists, try removing the cyan and yellow cartridges, turning off the printer, and then reinstalling the cartridges before turning the printer back on.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
