300 cartridge printing on an HP Deskjet F4580

So I've wasted 2 hours of my life trying to sort out a defective HP Black Ink cartridge which would print a shadow effect when printing. After a multitude of attempts to align, clean printhead etc etc I tried a new cartridge and the problem was gone.

 

But how do I try to get the cartridge replaced? HP seem to hide behind a wall of virtual online assistants which are useless. I just want a replacement for a defective HP product. Too much to ask?
