macOS 10.13 High Sierra

Have exhausted HP on line chat help, tried everything. Printer will not print automatically. Response is 'not updating HP printing schedule.' When press the screen on the  printer it says reconnect to services, but fails to do so but prints the page. Have to do this manually each time  a page needs printing - can't correct the fault? thank you suggestions please. Issue seems to be with HP devices, not our wifi which is ok. This has been working ok and the HP network configuration page shows everything to be ready and connected. - no reason for this error development and I have dis installed and re installed etc etc.

Thank you

Hi @Brookesy100

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you.

  • Are you using Instant Ink cartridges in the printer to print?
  • Restart the wireless router, the printer, and the MAC.
  • Make sure the printer is connected to the internet.

Update the printer firmware

Click here to download and install the latest firmware from your MAC.

Try printing or make a copy and check if that works.

If the issue persists, perform the steps mentioned in this document.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Thank you Kumar -yes it's AirPrint and yes we tried everything you have suggested. By way of elimination we downloaded the HP app onto smartphone and tried to print from this. This failed which meant we could consider the router as being the issue. It was a BT hub and 12 years old. We have replaced this with BTHUB 2 and the printer and AirPrint now works. Somehow in May 2020 BT or HP did an upgrade that 'kicked' out the AirPrint and blocked it from working and blocked it from letting HP know how many pages we had printed. All our other devices working wireless were not affected. Today AirPrint says we used 20 pages ( these were the ones being printed by us pressing a button - not wireless) whereas yesterday we hadn't printed any since 06 May when issue occurred. We understand from HP a few people now have had this issue ( and with BT routers) so if they have an old one then this could be the solution to offer. Thank you for replying to us it had been frustrating getting to the bottom of it. HP 'Milan' from HP in Belgrade (!!) helped us with this solution when we used a UK helpline for HP.
