HP ENVY 5055 All-in-One Printer

HP Envy 5055 All-in-one printer was working great up until a few months ago. All of a sudden it stopped connecting to HP Instant Ink account. I used to be able to bypass that and still get it to print, but now it won't print at all. I try to reconnect it to HP Instant Ink, and the printer gives a server problem error: "The printer could not connect to Web Services. The server might be busy or temporarily unavailable. Try again later." I have retried numerous times with the same error occurring. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the printer. Driver is up to date. Account is active with HP Instant Ink. WIFI is connected and working. Same issue occurs if I have the printer hardwired to computer.

Hi @Katybugdid,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It's frustrating when your printer stops connecting to HP Instant Ink and you encounter server problems. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the issue.

Check Internet Connection:

  • Ensure that your printer is connected to the internet. Verify that your Wi-Fi network is working correctly and that the printer is connected to the correct network.

Restart Your Router:

  • Sometimes, router issues can cause problems with the printer's connection. Try restarting your router and see if that helps.

Check for Firmware Updates:

  • Make sure your printer has the latest firmware updates. Outdated firmware can sometimes cause connectivity issues. You can check for firmware updates on the HP website.

HP Web Services Status:

Factory Reset the Printer:

  • As a last resort, you can perform a factory reset on your printer. This will erase all custom settings, so be sure to note down any important configurations.
    • On the printer's control panel, go to "Setup" or "Settings," then "Tools" or "Restore Defaults," and select "Restore Factory Defaults."

Reinstall HP Smart App:

  • Uninstall the HP Smart app from your computer or mobile device and then reinstall it. Ensure you have the latest version of the app.

Verify HP Instant Ink Account:

  • Double-check that your HP Instant Ink subscription is active and that there are no issues with your account. You can log in to your HP Instant Ink account on their website to verify this.

Remember that technical issues with printers can sometimes be challenging to resolve, and it might take a combination of these steps to get your printer back online.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
