I purchased my printer 13 months ago and ran out of Yellow ink so went to local shop and bought. a replacement cartridge. However, the printer rejected the cartridge, I took the printer to the shop and they told me I needed to signup to Instant Ink. On trying this InstantInk does NOT support  the HP OfficeJet Pro 7720 so I cannot sign up to a service that apparently you MUST HAVE to be able to carry on printing! Does anyone know how I can use the HP ink cartridges I buy locally so that they WILL print without asking me to signup to a service my printer isn't subscribed to? Ive tried the HP Support website but it hasn't been able to offer any help .

The exact error message said:

Depleted cartridges must be replaced to resume printing.. I then bought a replacement yellowing which was rejected each time.

I ended up taking the printer down to my local store and the engineer there told me that my Printer Update Settings were locked. On my printer settings  the message said that  I needed to go to www.hpinstantink.com to see about enrolment status and it is there that I hit the problem when I found out that the HP Officejet Pro 7720 is not supported by Instant Ink. So now I am left with a printer that I cannot replace cartridges for, even though I would like to join the InstantInk subscription as I realise it is a very good scheme but am told by HP that the printer doesn't support InstantInk. Why does it have the message on the printer screen telling me to enrol then..it's mystifying me?

Any help would be gratefully received Jay_G24, thank you for taking the time to reply

The printer is not eligible for instant ink service.

Turn off web services on your printer and then check the error.

Let's disable web services

--->Touch on the wifi icon ((i)) on the printer, and take down the IP address

--->Open a web browser (ex Chrome or Mozilla) and type in the printer's IP

---> click on web services and remove web services

Let me know how this goes!

Thanks very much for this, before I try though, will this stop the scanner part of the Printer from working directly to my computer??

HP Recommended

It should not affect the scanner functionality.

Hope this helps!
