HP Officejet Pro 8600 e-All-in-One Printer - N911a

My printer was working fine until I installed a new HP black printer cartridge.  The message I received was
" black cartridge is defective"    I replaced it with another new cartridge and continue to get the same message.   I did all the things recommended with HP Smart Doctor,  ie:   turn off printer, unplug it, turn it back on.     SEVERAL TIMES !!  I manually Wiped the copper-colored contact on the cartridge with a lint-free cloth, as well as the  contact inside the print head with a lint-free cloth.  Turned off the printer again and unplugged it and then  plugged it back in and turned it back on  AGAIN!!

Same message when the printer came back on.......   What is going on?   I chatted with an Instant Ink person ( Your session ID for this incident is 7098546. who referred me to calll Tech Support,  but,   everytime I tried to log on, it says Support is not available at this time !!  Try back again.....  I am thorougly disgusted and would like to know if any changes to the Black Ink cartridges were done that my printer will not accept it.     I changed two other cartridges and they are not giving me that message,  and my Scan Doctor says my printheads are fine.
