How is it HP can prevent me from using my printer if I don't subscribe to their ink service? I always use HP ink. This is not fair. I'm hoping there is a way to opt out and not have my printing or ink maintenance blocked again.  Otherwise, this can't be legal.

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you.

 

HP does not prevent you from using HP regular ink cartridges. You may or may not enroll the printer to Instant ink as per your requirement.

 

Have you enrolled the printer to Instant Ink?

If yes, and if you would like to cancel it, kindly refer to this document.

 

What is the error message on the printer?

If the printer is not enrolled in Instant Ink, you cannot use HP Instant Ink cartridges in the printer to print.
