HP Deskjet 2632

Hi!

I have not used my printer for a while, and it has been a long time since I bought colors too. But it should still be full though, and the printer says so too. But every time I print, I get thin streaks or a very slight shade of what I really want to print.

Someone who can help?

Printer doesn't like to sit idle for extended time.

Try to fix it here:

Thank you for your respons!

So it is because the toner has dried up?

Is there someway I can fix it?

You are welcome.

Well, it is possible the ink is "dried", at least on the cartridge itself and perhaps within the printer.  ?

It is true that printers, after first setup, do need to be used regularly to maintain the health of the ink system.

➡️You posted in the Instant Ink board, if you actually have Instant Ink service, I will forward you to an Instant Ink agent.  Yes?  No?

As to "fix", you might be able to clean the ink cartridges with a several passes of the automatic cleaning method (described in the help document:  Color or Black Ink Not Printing).

Not sure if there is another option for this type of cartridge.

@Bob_Headrick

I am guessing these little cartridges can be cleaned as you have described elsewhere - yes?

Thanks for insight.

If the troubleshooting steps @Dragon-Fur gave above do not resolve the issue there are a few options:

First, print a diagnostic page as shown in the "Cleaning the cartridges" section.

If the color blocks are well defined but have white lines running through all the colors, or are missing distinct large blocks of color then cleaning the electrical contacts as described in the first option below may resolve the issue.

If the colors are light with different defects in different colors, with generally fuzzy or blurry edges the second option below may help resolve the issue.  This case is most likely caused by turning off the power from an external switch such as a power strip or outlet switch or unplugging the printer.  In such cases the printer may not properly park the cartridges and they will dry out.  The printer should always be plugged into a live outlet.  If it is necessary to unplug the printer first turn the printer off from the printer's switch and wait about thirty seconds for the cartridges to properly park and all noises from the printer to cease.

  1. Cleaning the electrical contacts as shown in the document here (for a different cartridge series, but still the same procedure) may resolve the print quality issues.
  2. You might have success soaking the color cartridge.  I would suggest the following:  get a coffee cup and put about 1" of very hot (not boiling) water in the bottom.  Put the color cartridge in the water with the nozzles down, in the same orientation it would be in the printer.  Let the cartridge soak for ten minutes, then remove the cartridge and dry the electrical contacts with a lint-free wipe.  A clean coffee filter works well for this.  Gently blot the nozzle plat against a damp tissue.  If the cartridge has been cleared you should see a strong blot of cyan, magenta and yellow.  Put the cartridge back in the printer and run up to three cleaning cycles to restore proper printing.
