HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 All-in-One Printer
iOS

Appears this is an old issue, but it just started happening with a printer I've been using for 5 years. I recently updated to the latest HP driver. Now, my printer randomly prints a single page with an uppercase G at the top left of the page. Then seems to lose connection with my network and won't print from any device. If I try to shut down the printer, it goes into a doom-loop with the screen showing "shutting down". Only option has been to unplug, wait a minute, then after re-plugging, the printer starts up normally.

These issues can be frustrating, but there are steps you can take to resolve them. Here's a comprehensive guide to address the problem:

Power Reset:

  • Turn off the printer, disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer.
  • Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  • Wait at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet and then reconnect it to the printer.
  • Turn the printer back on.

Update Printer Firmware:

  • Make sure your printer's firmware is up to date. You can check for firmware updates on the HP website or through the HP Smart app.
  • HP Support - Software and Drivers

Reinstall HP Printer Driver:

  • Uninstall the current driver from your computer.
  • Download and install the latest driver from the HP website.
  • Make sure to select the correct operating system (iOS) when downloading the driver.

Reconnect Printer to Network:

  • Ensure your router is functioning properly and your network settings are correct.
  • Reconnect your printer to the network:
    • From the printer control panel, touch the Wireless icon.
    • Touch Settings.
    • Touch Wireless Setup Wizard and follow the prompts to reconnect your printer to the network.

Test the Printer:

  • Try printing a test page.
  • Monitor if the issue with the random single page printing persists.

 Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
