HP DeskJet 2755e All-in-One Printer

My printer is connected to the internet, and this is confirmed when I print the Printer Information Page. However, when I go to HP Smart, the app, or HP Instant Ink it says it is not connected to the internet. I have uninstalled, reinstalled, gone to the EWS to check Web Services (they are on but it says the printer is not connected). It will not print because it says it is not enrolled in HP Instant Ink, but it is - it's just that HP Instant Ink doesn't recognize that it's connected to the internet.

Hi @lbshirley

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I'm really sorry you're dealing with this frustrating connectivity loop between your HP DeskJet 2755e and HP Instant Ink. It’s especially confusing when the printer confirms internet access on the Printer Information Page, yet HP Smart and Instant Ink say otherwise.

Here’s a focused recovery path to help re-establish full connectivity and restore Instant Ink functionality:

Step-by-Step Fix for HP Instant Ink Connectivity Issue

1. Restart Web Services from EWS

Even if Web Services are “On,” the connection may be stale or misregistered.

  • Open the Embedded Web Server (EWS) by entering the printer’s IP address in a browser
  • Go to Web Services > Settings
  • Click Remove Web Services
  • After removal, restart the printer
  • Return to EWS and click Enable Web Services
  • Reprint the Information Page to confirm a new connection

This forces the printer to re-register with HP’s cloud and often resolves Instant Ink sync issues.

2. Check DNS and Firewall Settings

  • On your router, ensure DNS is set to automatic
  • Disable any firewall or parental control features temporarily
  • Avoid using guest networks or VPNs

HP Instant Ink requires uninterrupted cloud access, and restrictive network settings can block registration.

3. Update Printer Firmware

Firmware updates often include fixes for cloud sync and Instant Ink enrollment bugs.

Let me know what happens after restarting Web Services and re-adding the printer—I’ll guide you further based on that.

You’re doing everything right by documenting the issue clearly—I’ll stay with you until it’s resolved.

Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately, none of the fixes you suggested worked. I had tried removing Web Services from the EWS before and forgot to mention that, but tried it again and still nothing. My DNS, Firewall and Parental Control settings are all fine and when I try to update the firmware the HP Firmware Updater says "Cannot update the device. This Firmware Updater does not contain upgrades for your device." I have also connected this printer to two entirely different networks in different cities, wondering if the network at my other house was the problem and am having the same problem in both locations.
