HP Instant Ink
macOS 10.15 Catalina

I invested  in instant ink and finally received my first replacement cartridges 48 hours after the due date.  Meanwhile, I cancelled my InstantInk subscription to coincide with the receipt of my cartridges.  My new cartridges will not work and I cannot print anything.  What can I do?

Hi @Gigster1,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you've canceled your HP Instant Ink subscription and received replacement cartridges after the cancellation, there may be compatibility issues with the cartridges as they are tied to your subscription. Here's what you can do to resolve the situation.

  • Reset the Printer: Some HP printers may require a reset to recognize new cartridges after a subscription cancellation. Check your printer's manual or HP's support website for instructions on how to reset your specific printer model.
  • Purchase New Cartridges: If you're unable to resolve the issue with the cartridges provided by Instant Ink, you may need to purchase new cartridges outright. This would allow you to use the printer without being tied to the Instant Ink subscription.
  • Consider Rejoining Instant Ink: If you find the service beneficial and wish to continue using it, you can consider rejoining Instant Ink. However, make sure to do so before your current cartridges run out to avoid any interruption in printing.
  • Explore Alternative Printing Options: While resolving the issue, you can explore alternative options for printing, such as using a local print shop or a friend's printer, to meet your immediate printing needs.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
