HP Envy Photo 6255
Chrome OS

I have an issue with an application.  HP Smart App will no longer save to MyPassport external hard drive.  The save stopped working in the application.  The printer is an HPEnvyi Photo 6255 (6200 series).  The app will scan.  It used to save.  I click on save and a wheel goes round and round.  Nothing else happens. How to I fix this?

I came across your post and would like to help

 

Have you tried reinstalling the HP Smart App?

 

Do you face the same issue with different files or only a particular file?

 

Since you are using Chrome OS try scanning to your Chromebook using the Webscan feature located in your printer's Embedded Web Server (EWS). Note: The printer must be setup on your network to do this.

 

First, you'll need your printer's IP address. You can find this by printing a Network Configuration page from your printer. Here are the steps.

 

 

 

 

On the Network configuration page, you will see an IP address (or IPv4 address).

 

Here are the steps to scan using Webscan on your Chromebook.

 

1. Open your Google Chrome internet browser.

2. In the address bar, type in the printer's IP address from your config report, and press enter. The embedded web server should open.

3. Click the tab at the top that says Scan.

4. Click Webscan on the left-hand side.

5. You can customize your scan settings on this page, when you are done, click Scan at the bottom.

6. Right click on the scanned image to save the document.

(Note: This video is for Windows 8, but the process for using the Webscan is the same on your Chromebook)

Thank you. I tried uninstalling the HP Smart App and reinatalled.  Save did not work again.  The other instructions were the same or very similar to what I did before the app.  Now when I enter the IP address nothing happens.  I'll keep trying.  I will print out your suggestion.  I will also call Dell.  I am using a Dell chromebook.

Thanks again Krazy Toad.  I called Dell.  I have to pay for the tech support.  He said I have to contact for ownership in Canada, which makes no sense.  I bought the laptop at Office Depot in Chicago.  When I type in my IP address for the printer an offer to direct connect to HP occurs.  I do not get the screen for WEBscan like I used to.

I suggest you perform a Semi Full Reset on the Printer and then Setup the printer again

 

Since these steps are specific to your printer, I have sent you a private message with the next course of action
