Hi @DrBadimo,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be happy to help you!
If you're having trouble registering your HP OfficeJet Pro 8715 printer on your HP profile and suspect that it is preventing you from downloading or using HP Smart, here are some steps you can take to resolve the issue:
1. Check HP Account Registration
- Ensure you're entering the correct serial number of your printer. Double-check the serial number on the printer itself or in the printer's settings.
- Try registering your printer through the HP Customer Support website:
- Visit the HP Support website.
- Log in to your HP account.
- Go to My Dashboard and attempt to register your printer there.
- If you encounter an error, try registering from a different web browser or device.
2. Update HP Smart
- If you've already installed HP Smart but can't register your printer:
- Make sure HP Smart is updated to the latest version.
- Uninstall and reinstall HP Smart from the Microsoft Store or Mac App Store depending on your device.
- Open HP Smart and try adding your printer again.
3. Check Printer Connectivity
- Make sure your printer is properly connected to your network:
- On the printer's control panel, navigate to Setup > Network Setup.
- Ensure that the printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your computer or mobile device.
- Print a Wireless Network Test Report from the printer's settings to ensure it is connected.
4. Clear HP Smart Cache (Windows)
- If you're using Windows, clearing the HP Smart cache might resolve issues:
- Navigate to C:\Users\YourUsername\AppData\Local\Packages\AD2F1837.HPPrinterControl_*\LocalCache and delete the contents.
- Restart HP Smart and try registering your printer again.
Please find the remaining steps in the next post.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
