I have an HPEnvy 5532 when changing the cartridge I get an error message i can't fix

HP Recommended
HP Envy 5532
macOS 10.14 Mojave

The error message is "ink cartridge problem.  The following Cartridges must be replaced" This just keeps coming when I have changed the cartridge - genuine HP product purchased yesterday.  The cartridge had been empty for sometime.

Is the printer enrolled in HP Instant Ink Program?

What happens when you install the old ink cartridge back?

 

Meanwhile, I'd suggest you follow the steps from the document HP Printer Does not Print and Error Indicates Faulty Ink Cartridge to isolate and resolve the issue.
