HP ENVY Photo 7855 All-in-One Printer
macOS 12.0 Monterey

We have two HP printers one of them stopped working so we started using our spare printer, which is model 7855. The HP instant ink was expired on it because we haven’t used this one that much but now when we try to sign up for the instant ink, there is no way to do that. It is telling me it’s out of warranty. Does that mean that the printer has to be thrown out because we can’t sign up for instant Ink

Hi @Nyglamazon

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

You don’t need to throw out your HP 7855 printer just because the Instant Ink subscription expired. Here are some steps you can take to resolve the issue:

1. Re-enroll in HP Instant Ink

  • Create a New Account: Try creating a new HP Instant Ink account if you don’t already have one. Sometimes, starting fresh can help.
  • Use the HP Smart App: Download the HP Smart app on your smartphone or computer and see if you can enroll your printer in Instant Ink through the app.

2. Check Eligibility

  • If the printer is telling you it’s out of warranty, that shouldn’t affect your ability to enroll in Instant Ink. Check if the printer model is still supported by Instant Ink on HP’s website.

3. Reset the Printer

  • Power cycle your printer by turning it off, unplugging it, waiting for about 60 seconds, and then plugging it back in. Sometimes a reset can resolve enrollment issues.

4. Use Standard Cartridges

  • If you cannot resolve the Instant Ink issue, you can continue using the printer with standard HP cartridges. Just purchase the appropriate cartridges for your model, and they should work without needing an Instant Ink subscription.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
