INK Trouble

HP Recommended
officejet 3380 all in one printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I purchased an officejet all in one printer 3380 series, also purchased HP ink cartridges, I replaced the original cartridges with HP product than joined instant ink program. I am a low use printer, everything has been fine until this week when I receive a message stating Ink cartridge is incompatable with the printer, it has been working for months, also have instant ink cartridges that were mailed to me that I have not yet needed to use.  Do I need to  replace the cartridges even though ink is remaining in the existing HP cartridges in  order to reset my status and print??
