I've had my printer for under a year and this is my second set of cartridges I've put in it. They have been doing just fine for months (I don't print very often) and now all the sudden it is saying my cartridges are unusable but it prints the report pages perfectly with black and colored ink on it so obviously the ink works just fine. I feel like I'm getting scammed like the printers are meant to malfunction so people have to spend more money.

To be able to answer you effectively, we need some information.
Are you using HP genuine ink cartridges?
Update the Firmware by selecting the current OS.
If that does not fix the issue, perform the steps from this document.
