I just cancelled my HP Ink subscription because I've been paying for it for over 2 years, but I've only had ink sent to me twice, so clearly, I dont need the service.  BUT now, all of a sudden, my black ink cartridge is not communicating with the printer.  I tried all the the tropubleshooting suggestions provided by virtual support.

Has anyone else had this specific issue?  I have a HP ENVY Inspire 7955e All-in-One Printer

Welcome to the HP English Community --

While your service was active, fresh Ink would have been sent when the printer notified the service that ink supplies were depleted.  The "printer needs ink" notice sent from printer to service would trigger a shipment.

One of the nice things about not depending on an Ink Service is the freedom to purchase ink when you like.  For those who print infrequently, this is less a burden that for those who print much more regularly and benefit from a service that automatically sends ink when it is needed.

After the Ink Service is cancelled, Instant Ink / Subscription cartridges no longer work in any printer.

What?

That the Instant Ink / subscription cartridges no longer work is normal operation as explained in the contract.

Reference:  Instant Ink - Terms of Service - USA

What to do?

Remove all the Instant Ink / Subscription cartridges and return them to HP in one of the little bags sent with previous shipments of ink.

Purchase and install a fresh set of cartridges.
