Ink cartridge received from Instant Ink program is defective
01-22-2020 01:55 PM

Hi,
One of the ink cartridge received from instant ink program is faulty. Printer says replace cartridge after installing new one received in the mail. Have tried removing all cartridges and performing a hard reset then installing cartridges again. Printer firmware is up to date. Printer will accept the old empty cartridge but keeps saying cartridge problem with the new one. Any help would be great. I have tried all the solutions I can find in the forums but noe seem to work. I assume HP sent me a bad cartridge.
Best,
Marcus

I have exactly the same problem with an HP Officejet 4630. I have gone through all of the suggested steps and got nowhere. I then went to Staples and bought a replacement tri-color cartridge - but got the same result with a new cartridge. The problem seems to be with the printer itself and not the Instant Ink. Is HP trying to get me to buy a new printer? They want $99 for an over the phone consult.

Apologies for the inconvenience. If you have tried the steps mentioned in this document, a new ink cartridge, and the issue persists, it is a possible hardware issue with the printer. If the printer is under warranty, HP will assist you with service options. If the printer is out of warranty, you may have to upgrade the printer.
Keep me posted for any other assistance.
