I set up my brand new HP ENVY Photo 6234 printer yesterday with the ink provided. I have printed off 28 photos mostly in grayscale (3 of which have failed and have come out red) and my tri colour cartridge has completely ran out...how is this even possible?? I’ve selected the option to be able to print 300 photos a month, but if the cartridges are only capable of printing less than 30 pages before they run out, I’ll be using at least 10 a month, have I missed something? Are the initial ink cartridges only meant to be able to print a small number of pictures? The black ink cartridge is near enough still full. Any help would be appreciated.

Welcome to the HP Support Community.
The cartridges that come with the Printer initially are called set up ink cartridges and are usually meant to just set the Printer up. They are not full regular ink cartridges.
Also, if you're printing high quality photo, it does use up a lot more ink than the usual photos.

Hi, thanks for your reply and your help. Yes I’ve signed up for the instant ink program but I’ve not been sent any ink yet and it just says “shipment processing”.
