I am getting an error that says to remove and reinstall the black cartridge. I’ve done that, as well as the color, attempted a hard reset, and finally replaced the current cartridge with an older empty one that was waiting to be sent back. I have cleaned the contacts and tried the firmware update.
The old cartridge does not produce an error, but is out of ink. The new cartridge works once after I (re) install it, then I get the same error on the next print. This appears to be the same issue reported in this post: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/HP-Instant-Ink/Print-cartridge-error/m-p/7645062 .
How do I order a replacement to the defective cartridge?

The document here has information on contacting HP to get replacement Instant Ink cartridges. Go to the HP Instant Ink site, the phone number (or chat option for some countries) will be listed in the lower center of the opening screen.

I am glad they were able to resolve your issue. I have had pretty good results contacting HP Instant Ink support folks through the chat function.
