HP Officejet Pro 8615 e-All-in-One Printer

My Magenta instant ink cartridge is empty and no longer allowing me to print anything. It is also not being recognized as a legitimate instant Ink cartridge on my HP Instant Ink account dashboard so no replacement is able to be sent. I have tried to chat with a support agent but my case is immediately closed. My printer is older and the warranty is expired. I am wondering if this is affecting my ability to submit a support claim online. Does an active warranty need to be in place to use Instant Ink? That doesn't seem right to me.
