I have an 8710 pro jet printer. When I purchased the printer from hp I signed up for the Instant Ink program. Things were going well until I started getting cartridges that my printer claimed were not instant ink and it w ould not accept. Then 2 years ago I stopped getting any ink. After several discussions with virtual, I finally got it cancelled, I figured that they took me for $250+. But now my printer will not print because I had to put in a regular hp cartridge, so the printer now says it cannot print.

I understand that you are facing issues with instant ink cartridges. I'd like to help!
When did you cancel your instant ink account?
Are you still using instant ink cartridges after canceling?
And here's what you need to know & do:
If you have an instant ink cartridge on your printer, remove it and discard that, you can only use regular cartridges on your printer once you cancel the program.
That said, if you have trouble using regular cartridges, I recommend you turn off the web service using the steps from this link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c04808536
when done successfully, check if it works fine.

I had no communication of your replies. Please go back to when 'i first signed up for instant ink. Figure how much money you have withdrawn from my account and then advise how many times ink was sent to me. This program was advertised as being help to Hp owners, not a moneymaker. I feel I am owed a refund.
