I would like to make a complaint about HP's horrific technical support.
So I was given a printer by my mother-in-law. and plugged it in to try to set it up. Straight away the app would not find the printer. I contacted tech support, and they had me turn it off and on many times, which clearly wasn't working. I was eventually told it was because I needed to contact my internet provider to open some ports which I did. Still didn't fix the problem. HP Couldn't figure it out so I eventually had to pay out for tech support from another company..... Turns out all I needed to do was connect it via wire to my PC and run a piece of software... HP did not think to tell me this.
Once the printer was connected to the Wi-Fi and I could finally see it on the HP smart app, The ink cartridges needed signing up for instant ink, but I couldn't get the printer to print off the claim code. HP tech support told me it was because I Needed to buy a regular ink cartridge instead of the instant ink ones.... This information was incorrect as I spent yet more money on a regular cartridge and it still didn't work.
My last interaction with tech support was on WhatsApp and they were taking 10 minuets at a time to respond to me. He wanted to take control of my computer at 19:34 at night, to which I informed him I was getting my son ready for bed so could not do that at that time. He then stated he would keep the chat open for 24 hours so we could continue when I was free. I messaged the next morning (this morning) at 10:04 stating I was available when he was, which still hasn't had a response at 23:24 tonight...
Finally I sat down at my computer to try and figure out the issue myself which, surprise surprise, I did!! Turns out the only thing I needed to do was factory rest the printer from the app!!!! So I have spent over £40 I didn't need to spend because HP "Tech support" do not know what they are doing! I know very minimal amounts about tech and even I could figure It out!!
I would like to put in a formal complaint, and try to get my money back! Thank you.
