HP printer - not yet purchased

I am thinking of purchasing a new printer and using the instant ink service. I haven't used it before. I don't print a lot of pages at home and I am concerned that the ink might dry up in the cartridges before the inks runs out. If the ink hasn't run out but dries up I am assuming that HP won't send me new instant ink cartridges as it will think I don't need them? Can they be requested / the order overridden especially if I haven't had them sent hardly at all during the year?

Welcome to the HP Support Community. 

 

That's correct, ink will not be automatically sent if there's an error with the printer/ cartridges or print quality issue. You can always reach out to us and request for the replacement Instant Ink cartridges. 

 

To prevent the ink from drying, you can also perform the printer maintenance task every now and then.
