HP Officejet Pro 8600 e-All-in-One Printer - N911a

After installing HP original ink cartridges a window appears with a "HP Rewards" button. When clicked, this button tries to open "h30509.www3.hp.com" but the security certificate for this URL is invalid, (belongs to *.InstantInk.com) so the browser refuses to open it.

Hi @Zipidy,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It seems like you're encountering an issue with your HP Officejet Pro 8600 printer where a "HP Rewards" button is trying to open a URL with an invalid security certificate. This issue could be related to outdated firmware or a misconfiguration in the printer's settings. Here are some steps you can follow to address this problem.

  • Check Firmware Update: First, ensure that your printer has the latest firmware installed. Outdated firmware can sometimes cause unexpected issues. You can usually update the firmware through the printer's control panel or by visiting the HP support website.
  • Reset Printer Settings: If updating the firmware doesn't resolve the issue, you can try resetting the printer to its default settings. This will remove any custom settings that might be causing the problem. You can usually find the reset option in the printer's menu.
  • Disable HP Rewards: If the issue persists, you can try disabling the HP Rewards feature if it's not something you use or want. To do this, navigate through the printer's settings menu to find the option to disable HP Rewards or any similar features.

Regarding the invalid security certificate issue, it's essential to exercise caution when dealing with such warnings, as it can be an indicator of a potentially unsafe website.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

I found a notice on HP's website that claimed the "HP Rewards" button I clicked led to an obsolete program that HP was no longer offering. It said the fix was to download and install a new driver for my printer. When I completed that process, the invalid security certificate issue disappeared.

Thank you for your help.
