@claudisg,

Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

1. Check the Printer’s Connection

  • Wi-Fi Connection: Ensure that your printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your computer. You can check the connection on the printer’s display or print a network configuration page by pressing the printer’s wireless button (this varies by model, but it's often a small blue light or icon) and selecting Print Network Configuration.
  • Wired Connection: If you're using an Ethernet cable, make sure it’s securely plugged into both the printer and the router.

2. Restart Your Printer and Router

  • Restart the Printer: Turn off the printer, wait for about 10 seconds, and then turn it back on.
  • Restart Your Router: Unplug your router for about 30 seconds and plug it back in. This can help refresh the network connection.

3. Check the Printer’s Status

  • On your computer, go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers (or Settings > Printers & Scanners in Windows 10/11) and see if your printer appears there.
  • Right-click the printer icon, and check if it shows Offline. If it does, try selecting Use Printer Online or Set as Default Printer.

4. Reconfigure the Printer's Wi-Fi Connection

  • You might need to reconnect your printer to the Wi-Fi. On most HP printers, you can use the Wireless Setup Wizard from the printer’s menu. Here’s how:
    • Press the Wireless icon or Settings button on your printer.
    • Select Wireless Setup Wizard, then follow the prompts to connect your printer to the network again.
    • If your printer doesn't have a display, you may need to press the Wi-Fi button until the light blinks, and then connect via WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup) if your router supports it.

5. Reinstall or Update the Printer Driver

  • If your printer is still showing offline, try reinstalling or updating the printer drivers. You can download the latest drivers from the HP website.
  • Windows: Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers, right-click the printer, and select Remove device. Then reinstall it by downloading the latest drivers from HP’s website.
  • Mac: Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners, select your printer, and click the minus sign to remove it. Then add it again.

6. Check for Printer Firmware Updates

  • Sometimes outdated firmware can cause connectivity issues. Check for firmware updates on your HP printer using the printer's menu or through the HP Smart app. If there’s an update available, install it.

7. HP Instant Ink Enrollment Troubles

  • Error Message Fix: If HP Instant Ink gives an error that the printer is already connected, try logging out and back into your HP Instant Ink account. You can also try resetting the printer's Instant Ink enrollment:
    • Go to the HP Instant Ink website.
    • Sign in and select Manage My Account > Printers.
    • Find your printer and remove it, then re-enroll it.
  • Reboot your HP Instant Ink Services: You may want to restart the Instant Ink service by removing the printer from the HP Instant Ink dashboard and then adding it back manually.

8. Run HP Print and Scan Doctor (Windows)

  • HP offers a tool called the HP Print and Scan Doctor, which can automatically diagnose and fix many common issues with HP printers.
    • Download the tool from HP’s official website and run it. It will scan your printer’s connection and attempt to fix any issues it detects.

9. Check for Firewall or Antivirus Issues

  • Some security software might block the printer’s connection to the network. Try temporarily disabling the firewall or antivirus software and check if the printer reconnects.

Restart your printer, router, and computer, then reconnect Wi-Fi using the HP Smart app. Remove and re-add the printer on your HP Instant Ink account, check for firmware updates, and reset network settings if needed. If the problem persists, visit HP Support.
