My printer is not printing anything in black ink despite the cartridge being full, please help

HP Deskjet 2632

Good evening,

My printer is no longer printing from the black ink cartridge even though it is full of ink (I have changed the cartridge thinking this may help and this made no difference). I have tried everything and searched online and nothing is helping. Please help! The colour ink is working fine and so is the printer itself (only a year old, and not used too often). The cartridge is the correct HP cartridge that was sent to me by HP themselves. Is there an option to take the cartridge holder out of this printer to see if there is a blockage somewhere that I can clean, as I cannot see an option to do this? I have tried all the updates and used the HP website to 'clean' the cartridge automatically and this still hasn't helped. Thank you in advance.

Welcome to HP support community.

Manually clean the area around the ink nozzles

  1. Gather the following materials:

    • A clean, lint-free cloth or a clean, dry cotton swab

    • Distilled or bottled water

Do not use tap water because it might contain contaminants that can damage the printhead.

  2. Open the ink cartridge access door.

The carriage moves to the center of the printer.

  3. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.

  4. Lightly press down on one of the ink cartridges to release it, and then pull the ink cartridge toward you out of its slot.

Do not remove both ink cartridges at the same time. Remove and then clean each ink cartridge one at a time. Do not leave an ink cartridge outside the printer for more than 30 minutes.

  5. Hold the ink cartridge by its sides.

  6. Lightly dampen a clean, lint-free cloth or swab with bottled or distilled water.

  7. Clean the face and edges around the ink nozzle with the cloth or swab.

Do not clean the ink nozzle plate.
