The printer is telling me the printer head was not connected &/or damaged.... I replaced the ink cartridge (black only) several weeks ago & its been working just fine. Yesterday I got the message, I took out all the cartridges & put them back in. Several of the cartridges appear to have leaked their color (is that normal??)

Leaking of cartridges isn't normal for any printer.
I would recommend you follow the steps from the document HP Printers - Resolving 'Ink System Failure', 'System Supply Problem' Errors.
If the issue persists, it could be a hardware issue.
Please reach out to the HP Support in your region regarding the service options for your printer.
