HP Deskjet 2620

Hi there,

Please can someone advise how I can make a complaint about the recent changes to the instant ink programme which is no longer going to offer a free printing plan. I bought my printer a couple of months ago on the basis I wouldn't have to spend money on ink, 2 months later and i'm now being told I will have to from December.

Thanks

You have just done so, in fact.

HP is aware of the wrath some of those who have been affected.

Posting here is a public message system - although not directly involved with us, HP does monitor the Community for trends, items of interest, and important developments.

What else?

It is unfortunate that the planned changes are coming on the heels of your subscription date.

The change, certainly not directed at individuals, has caught some people soon after having subscribed and others who have been subscribed for longer periods.

You will not have lost anything if you cancel the subscription before the time of the change.

In other words, you are not going to be "back charged" for any free period(s) prior to the change.

What to do?

If you wish to cancel the service, the details on how to do so are fully explained in your Terms of Service contract.

For example,

You know that the ink is only provided during the time the subscription is active - after termination of the contract, remove all Instant Ink cartridges from the printer and replace them with a set of HP ink cartridges purchased from HP or from your local merchant.

Hi,

Thanks for your message but the whole reason I bought my printer was because I was going to get free ink. I would not have bought a printer from HP if I had knowing this charge was coming. If I cancel I have a £40 printer I then have to fork out extra money for ink for. It's not as simple as just cancelling with no effects.

I managed to get through to HP instant ink today on the phone and am expecting a callback so I will wait to see what they say.

Well, there you go, then.

True, if you purchase a printer for free ink service, the change to have to pay anything at all likely does feel personal.

Good Luck.
