New 64 Tri-Color Cartridge shows that iit;s defective

Have owned my Hp Officejet 5740 for almost 5 years, with no problems..  Brilliant idea for ink subscription, one less thing to worry about.  However today, I tried to replace the 62  Tri-Color Cartridge.  Error messages all over.  Have gone over "Installing Hp 62 Tri-Color Cartridges", several times.

Is the Cartridge defective.?  I'm on the subscription plan...Can you send me a new 62 Tri-Color Cartridge?  ASAP

I've already spent over 2 hours, trying to resolve this issue.
