I installed a new cart as I have done for a very long time. The alignment paper printed out dark black. When I try to print form my computer it does print but in soft grey toned ink??? I actually took the cart out and tried another new cart with the same result (HP4500desktop)

Hi @Homebody365

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you. Let us try these steps to resolve the print quality issue:

Try making a standalone copy and check if that works. By this, we can conclude if this is a hardware or a driver issue.

Check the estimated ink levels, replace any low/empty ink cartridge.

Clean the ink cartridges

  1. Press Setup.

  2. Select Tools, and then select Clean Cartridge.

Align the ink cartridges

  1. Press the Setup icon  on the printer control panel.

  2. Select Tools, and then select Align Cartridge.

If the issue persists, perform step 10 from this document.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
