HI,

I have an HP 3831 and am an Instant Ink customer.

the last lot of replacement cartridges that were sent to me are a lot taller than the ones in my printer.

HP says that they should fit but they too tall and won't go into the holder on the carriage.

As my printer is now out of warranty HP want more money to get any assistance from them. I worry that I pay for the help but it won't resolve anything.

What do I do? Is buying a new printer my only option?

Hi @SJS64
Welcome to HP Support Community. This is a great place to post questions and find answers.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I see that the cartridges of your HP printer does not install properly as the cap would not close properly.

Instant ink cartridges will be bigger in size but will surely fit in.

Please follow the steps from this video to know how to install it.

Let me know if this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
