New Color Cartridge installed error message

HP Recommended
HP Office Jet Pro 8710

The printer indicated that it was time to change the yellow cartridge.  I did that and now I can not bypass and error message.  It keeps telling me to reinstall it.  I have done that, checked that I was up to date on Firmware and did the unlplug re plug process.  It shows an empty cartridge on the ink status.  I also tried reinstalling the empty one which has allowed me to print in black only, but that is not a real solution.  Most thankful for any help.  MIchelle
