Hi @pc1121,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The E0 error message on your HP Envy 6400 series printer typically indicates an issue with the print cartridges. Here are some steps to troubleshoot and resolve the error.

Check Cartridge Installation:

  • Ensure that the cartridges are installed correctly. Open the printer and carefully remove the cartridges, then reinstall them, making sure they click into place securely.

Inspect Cartridges:

  • Check the cartridges for any protective tape or packaging that might not have been removed. If the tape is still on the cartridge, it will prevent proper functioning.

Clean the Cartridge Contacts:

  • Use a lint-free cloth or coffee filter to gently clean the gold contacts on the cartridges and inside the printer. Dust or debris on these contacts can cause communication issues.

Power Cycle the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for about 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.

Update Printer Firmware:

  • Check if there’s a firmware update available for your printer. You can do this through the HP Smart app or the HP website.

Use Genuine HP Cartridges:

  • Ensure you are using genuine HP cartridges. Non-HP cartridges can sometimes trigger errors.

Reset the Printer:

  • If the error persists, you can perform a factory reset. This can often clear persistent errors.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
