Microsoft Windows 11

My HP officejet 4650 sometimes prints from programs on my PC, and sometimes they don't print. Instead, I get an error saying there's a printer paper jam. This is not true. I can send the file to my phone or my tablet and print from there and it works fine. Unfortunately, these paper jam errors are counting towards my print count every month. How do I resolve this with my HP instant ink account?

Welcome to the HP support community.

 

I understand that you are getting a paper jam error, I am glad to assist you.

Perform a power reset , Reset the printer to recover from printer errors or failures.

  1. Turn on the printer, if it is not already on.
  2. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
  3. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  4. Wait at least 30 seconds.
  5. Plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet and printer without any surge protector.
  6. Turn on the printer.

Update the printer firmware to install the latest updates

Done that process several times in the past year. Does not correct the random issue. 

How do I communicate with HP about whether these non-print events can be credited to my account? The paper does not actually print out when this paper jam error happens. By the way, the first line and a half of a document I attempt to print from my printer shows on the paper. Every time. And when that happens, the paper jam notice comes up. Please help.

You might have to reset the printer to fix this issue.
