My black ink stopped printing with the exception of a few lines. I am able to print most of a fax cover sheet from forms. I cannot print normal pages. 

 

  • I cleaned cartridges.
  • I deep cleaned ink.
  • I changed black cartridge to new cartridge.
  • No changes in printing. 
  • Black ink will not print.

I have used nearly all of my “monthly printing allotment” attempting to troubleshoot and resolve the issue. 

I am at a loss of how to proceed and find resolution. Help!

@Triguy50, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

 

It seems like the printer is enrolled in Instant Ink. Make sure you have tried  the steps mentioned in this document to resolve this issue - Black or Color Ink Not Printing, Other Print Quality Issues

 

Also, update the printer firmware

Click here to know different methods of updating printer firmware.

 

Try making a standalone copy in black and check if that works. By this, we can conclude if this is a hardware or a driver issue.

 

If the issue persists, as you have already used an alternate black ink cartridge, the issue could be with the printer. Please reach out to the HP Technical Support team in your region regarding the service options for your printer. 

You may create a case on the website to obtain a case number if required. Kindly watch this video to know how.

Note: The number of pages used for troubleshooting can be credited back to your account once the printer is replaced.
