I INSTALLED NEW BLACK INK CARTRIDGE, OTHER COLORS HALF FULL STILL.  TRIED TO PRINT A COLOR PHOTO AND ALL I GET OUT IS A BIG RED X  (FULL PAGE, THIN LINE) SURROUNDED BY A BLUE  (BORDER -THIN LINE)  ????  HELP!

@8-8, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

 

Which application are you trying to print from?

Have you tried printing different types of documents like PDF, Word or Webpages and check if the issue persists?

 

Update the printer firmware

Click here to know different methods of updating printer firmware.

 

Also, check for any software updates on MAC

Click here to know how.

 

Check the print queue

Go to system preferences > printers and scanners > select your printer > open print queue.

Empty the queue if you find any stuck print jobs.

 

Try printing.
