I had a question in regards to the instant ink paper service. Is the printer able to distinguish between the "plan" paper vs. paper that I may use that is not hp? For example, if I use 10 sheet of my personal color cardstock will it count towards my plan paper total?

The HP Instant Ink service counts any page printed with an HP Instant Ink cartridge as part of the plan page count.  It does not matter if you use HP paper, plain paper, photo paper or card stock, it all counts the same.  Note, a 3"x5" card counts the same as a full letter size page.

Please note that some colored card stock may not be compatible with some printers - bright colors may confuse the paper sensor and falsely report an out of paper or paper jam error.
