I want to pause our instant ink service for 4 months while we are away instead of cancelling. I see this as an option when cancelling. My question is will this be ok as printer will be off and there will be no internet service during this time. Thanks, Al

This is just the kind of case the pause is made for, you should not have any issues.

A few things to consider when shutting things down for four months:

  • Make sure the printer is first turned off from its power switch, then wait for a minute to let the printheads park properly before removing the power.  (This is for the case where the printer will be unplugged.  If the printer is unplugged without shutting it down properly the printheads may not be parked properly and the nozzles may dry out.)
  • Make sure the printer is not stored where it will be subject to extreme temperature swings.  Avoid direct sunlight.

With the proper shutdown and storage this should not be an issue - I had a spare Officejet 8600 series printer that I shut down and stored for a year I was pleasantly surprised when I turned it back on after a full year that no cleaning cycles or other maintenance was required and all the nozzles printed properly.
