HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 All-in-One Printer

Can I pause my subscription, but continue to print using the ink cartridges I have on the shelf? Or am I limited by something? In the event I pause, will I be required to have my printer still logged-in to the internet for the ink cartridges to work?

I do not have an instant ink printer. My understanding is that if you run out of ink you can use genuine Hewlett Packard cartridges either original or refilled. They must have an HP chip in the cartridge, but cannot be the instant ink type while the subscription is suspended..
