Personal hotspot and benefit to Instant Ink

HP Recommended
HP Envy 6220
iOS

Hello,

I have a question about HP printers. First is, can I connect my printer to my iPhone personal hotspot ? Because I only have a public wifi in my home residence (student residence), NO private wifi network, so it's the only way I found to connect my printer to Internet. Does it works ?

Second question is about Instant Ink. Will Instant Ink works in this way ?

I also found another way called "Printing with Wi-Fi Direct". But if I use that way to print, could I benefit to Instant Ink ?

Thanks a lot.

Drico

Hi @Drico1

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you.

HP does not recommend connecting the printer to a Hotspot or a public network. it may or may not work. You may have intermittent connectivity issues.

The printer should be connected to Internet for Instant Ink servers to communicate with the printer. Using the Hotspot connection would not provide a stable connection.

For more info on Instant Ink, refer to this document. Click here to visit the homepage of Instant Ink

You may connect the printer and the iPhone using Wifi-Direct for printing and scanning. There will be no internet connection on the iPhone while using Wifi-Direct.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
