Hi @CharlesBain
Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you with the printing issue.
To better assist you -
1) Are you experiencing this issue while making a copy as well?
2) What's the application that you are trying to print from? If you are trying AirPrint, please try printing from HP Smart app and vice-versa.
While you respond to that, print a Print Quality Report -
Launch the HP Smart app on your iOS device. If you do not have the HP Smart app installed, please refer to this document for steps to install the app and add the printer.
Tap on the printer's icon > Tap on Printer Report (under Tools) and then print the Print Quality Report. Evaluate the report and if there are defects found, try running the Print Quality Tools from the HP Smart app.
If the issue still persists, try these steps to update your iOS device -
To update the software on your iOS, please refer to these instructions.
I'd also suggest updating the printer's firmware. Refer to this document for steps.
