HP ENVY Photo 7155 All-in-One Printer

HP Envy 7155 says it’s connected, but when I try to print it shows an error message that says printer could not connect to web services. I would just click ok to connect and it would print. The odd thing is even when I was making a copy it showed this message. Which the wifi is not being used when I’m placing a paper on the printer and pressing copy. The problem is that my instant ink will not update so I have gone through all of the trouble shooting, restarted network and finally reset to factory settings to try to get printer connected so my instant ink account could see cartridge levels. Nothing worked and because of the factory reset I now cannot print at all since it says cartridges cannot be used until the printer is enrolled in hp instant ink. Which I can’t re-enroll since the printer is not connected. The blue wifi light is on and the status in the control panel still shows connected even though it’s apparently not connected.

Welcome to the HP support community.

I am glad to assist you to fix the web service connection error on your printer.

How is the printer connected?

Meanwhile, follow these steps to fix the issue.

Turn On Web Services

  • Make sure the printer is connected to a wired (Ethernet) or wireless network with an active internet connection.

    NOTE:

If you connect your printer to a computer with a USB cable, web-connected printing services do not work.

    • If your printer is connected with a wired (Ethernet) connection, check the cable and the lights on the printer’s Ethernet  port. The green link light should be steady, and the orange activity light should blink when the cable is connected.

    • If your printer is connected with a wireless connection, make sure the wireless feature is on and the printer is connected to the same network as your computer.

Some printers have a wireless icon  and a blue light on the front of the printer. If the printer has a blue light, and the light is on and not blinking, your printer is connected.

  • On your control panel, press the HP ePrint icon.

If your control panel does not have an HP ePrint icon, navigate to Web Services Setup, Network Setup, or Wireless Settings to open the Web Services menu.

    • If a summary screen displays, Web Services is already on.

Example of Web Services Summary screen

    • If a prompt to turn on Web Services or set up HP ePrint displays, follow the prompts to turn it on or set it up.

Example of the HP ePrint set up screen

  • If you are prompted to update the firmware, press OK.

My printer was “frozen” when I tried to start your directions so I turned it off. When it turned back on it showed it was updating a new driver (which I had tried to do before without success) and it is working now! I did nothing other than turn it off and back on again as I’ve done several times in the last 2 months and even just last night, but for whatever reason this morning it’s connected and working like it should!
