I do not wish to be an instant ink member, and have a fresh cartridge in my printer, however, I’m receiving an error message that the cartridge cannot be used until the printer is enrolled in instant ink. Any suggestions?

Hi @SWAdrianne,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you're encountering an issue where your printer is not allowing you to use a fresh cartridge because it's expecting an Instant Ink subscription. May I know Did you enrolled in instant ink before? Or have you initiated the cancellation of the account?

May I know if the cartridges are labelled as instant ink? If yes, It will only work with the instant ink subscription. You may buy Normal  HP cartridges Which will work without any subscription.

Check Cartridge Compatibility: Ensure that the cartridge you are trying to use is compatible with your printer model. Some printers might reject cartridges if they are not recognized as compatible, regardless of the Instant Ink status.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hi Rachel571. Thanks very much for your response. I had initially enrolled in instant ink on this printer, but canceled it years ago and had no problems with printing until recently when it reverted to the message that I must enroll in instant Ink in order to print. I replaced the ink cartridge with a new one that is not labeled instant ink but it still won’t print so I have no idea what to do to make it work with the cartridge I paid for.
Thanks,

Would you please give me a phone number for a human I can speak to? I keep going in circles but not getting answers with the support options available so far. Thank you.
