My HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 worked great the first year, then sometime in year two it started printing a random page with a single upper case G at the top. Nothing else, just a single letter.

Many others have reported the same problem with other HP printer models. Here is an example with problems with the  HP 8620... https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Inkjet-Printing/8620-Randomly-Prints-a-Page-with-Just-One-Letter/m-p/7...

I have tried every possible solution found in the knowledge base without success. One or more times a week, my printer prints an unauthorized "G-page" as I now call them. (The "G" stands for GRRRRRR).

Since many like me pay by the page with the "HP Instant Ink" program, I feel this problem needs to be addressed by HP. These unwanted unauthorized pages are being printed without my consent, and I have to pay for them.

HP, are you willing and able to help fix this problem, or can you provide people like me compensation for having to pay more for printers that are driving up the printed page count?

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).

If you are unfamiliar with how the Community's private message capability works, you can learn about that here.
