It's an HP Officejet Pro 8600 and it is past its warranty. It was working fine before I upgraded my WiFi router.

Hi @litbeing ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand your HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus e-All-in-One Printer is not connecting to your new WiFi router and the diagnostic results indicate a failure due to "No Filtering," it could be due to several issues related to the network settings or compatibility with the new router.

Here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue:

1. Check Router Settings

  • No MAC Address Filtering: Ensure that your new router does not have MAC address filtering enabled, or that the printer's MAC address is added to the allowed list if MAC filtering is enabled.
  • No IP Address Filtering: Make sure there are no IP address filtering settings that could block the printer from accessing the network.
  • Correct Network Band: Verify that the printer and router are using compatible WiFi bands. The HP Officejet Pro 8600 generally connects to the 2.4 GHz band. Make sure your router’s 2.4 GHz band is enabled.

2. Reconnect the Printer to the WiFi Network

  • Reset the Printer's Network Settings: Go to the printer’s control panel and reset the network settings to factory defaults. This option is usually found under Setup > Network Setup > Restore Network Settings.
  • Reconfigure Wireless Setup: Use the printer's control panel to search for and connect to your new WiFi network. Go to Setup > Network Setup > Wireless Setup Wizard and follow the on-screen instructions to reconnect the printer to your network.

3. Update Printer Firmware Update the firmware on an HP printer

  • Check for Firmware Updates: Sometimes, updating the printer's firmware can resolve compatibility issues with new routers. You can check for firmware updates through the HP Smart app or by visiting the HP Support website.

4. Printer and Router Compatibility

  • Ensure Compatibility: Some older printers may have trouble connecting to newer routers with advanced security settings (like WPA3). If your router supports dual-band or different security modes, try setting it to a mode compatible with the printer (WPA2 is generally supported by most printers).

5. Static IP Address

  • Assign a Static IP: Assigning a static IP address to your printer can sometimes resolve connectivity issues. You can do this through the router's DHCP settings by reserving an IP address for the printer's MAC address.

6. Disable Advanced Security Features

  • Temporarily Disable Features: Some routers have advanced security features like "Access Control" or "Network Isolation" that can interfere with printer connections. Try temporarily disabling these features to see if the printer connects successfully.

7. Restart Devices

  • Reboot Printer and Router: Sometimes, simply restarting your printer and router can resolve connectivity issues. Power off both devices for about 30 seconds and then power them back on.

8. Use HP Print and Scan Doctor- HP Print and Scan Doctor For windows

  • Run Diagnostic Tool: Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor on a computer connected to the same network to help diagnose and resolve connectivity issues.

I hope this helps.
