I was on the insta ink membership and decided I didn't need it anymore. When it kept trying to bill me and I didn't pay it made it to where my printer was useless. It wouldn't print or anything. Why can't I buy my own ink and use the printer without being on there membership. Kind of annoying given I paid over $300 for it...

Hi @breezyb222,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand how frustrating that you're experiencing issues with your printer after canceling your HP Instant Ink membership. HP Instant Ink is a subscription-based service that automatically sends you ink cartridges when your printer is running low, and it may offer some benefits such as cost savings and convenience for users who print frequently.
However, if you've decided to cancel your Instant Ink membership and your printer has become unusable as a result, it could be because your printer might have been configured to only accept ink cartridges from the Instant Ink program. This is a common practice in some printer models to ensure that users continue to subscribe to the service.
refer to your printer's user manual to see if there's a way to bypass the Instant Ink requirement and use regular ink cartridges
