I just got this printer from someone and set it up through the app. The app does not indicate low ink levels but when I print something, there is hardly any ink on the paper..it is printing as if there is actually very little ink in the cartridges. I am happy to buy a new cartridge but I since there is no indication of low ink, I am not sure that's actually the issue.

@jthorn, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

 

If the printer is not used for couple of weeks, the ink cartridges and the nozzle could have dried up.

 

On the printer control panel, touch the Ink icon  to display the current estimated ink levels. If the ink levels are more than 20% approx, then you need not replace the ink cartridges.

Try making a standalone copy in black and color to check if that works. By this, we can conclude if this is a hardware or a driver issue.

 

Also, perform steps 10 and 8 from this document if the ink levels are fine - Black or Color Ink Not Printing, Other Print Quality Issues.

Step 13 can also be performed if the issue persists.
